You Are Welcome Here, Beloved.

Open Door is a deeply compassionate community of disciples of Jesus who are committed to being formed into His character more and more over time for the sake of others. We understand that life is messy, struggles exist, and grace & truth need to coexist, which is why we’re so passionate about inviting people to engage in the struggle of becoming fully alive in God.

OUR VISION

To be a community radically committed to spiritual formation for the sake of others.

OUR MISSION

To invite people into the struggle of becoming fully alive in God.

Our Values

  • Brokenness is Welcome Here.

Come as you are. No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, this is a place of grace.

  • There’s no Need to Hide.

When life gets messy (and it will), we don’t fake it around here. We believe God meets us in our real lives, not the lives we wished we had.

  • Embrace the Struggle.

We stay in the struggle of becoming fully alive in God because we know the only way out is through.

  • Live in Grace & Truth.

Life in God is a mystery and its questions don’t have tidy black and white answers. Together, we seek Jesus’ third way – the way of grace and truth.

Essential Beliefs

In the inspiration and authority of the Bible.

(*Examples: 2 Timothy 3:15-17 and 2 Peter 1:21)

There exists one God who is equally Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

(*Examples: 2 Corinthians 13:14, Luke 1:35, and Matthew 28:19)

Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human; was crucified, died, buried and bodily resurrected to reconcile the world to God and to give new life to those who by faith participate in His death and resurrection.

(*Examples: 2 Timothy 3:15-17 and 2 Peter 1:21)

The Holy Spirit continually draws people to God, transforms them into the image of Christ, empowers them for ministry, and distributes spiritual gifts to the church. Believers are indwelt by the Holy Spirit upon faith in Christ.

(*Examples: Acts 1:8; 2:38, Romans 8:9, and Titus 3:5-8)

All persons are created in the image of God designed for relationship with God but are separated by sin and in need of reconciliation to God, self, others, and creation.

(*Examples: Genesis 1:27, Matthew 22:35-40, Romans 3:23-25)

All who believe in the Gospel message of Jesus Christ are participants in His eternal life. Water baptism and communion are powerful and active symbols of His life and message and our transformation.

(*Examples: Mark 1:14-15, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, Matthew 28:19-20, and Colossians 2:12)

There is one universal Christian Church with many expressions, consisting of all who believe in the good news of Jesus Christ. The primary purpose of the Church is to be the incarnational presence of Christ in the world.

(*Examples: 1 Corinthians 12:27, Galatians 1:2, Philippians 2:5-11, and Ephesians 5:1-2)

Christ will return to culminate the work of reconciling all things to Himself.

(*Examples: Revelation 21:1-5, Philippians 3:20, and Colossians 2:17-20)

Historic Creeds We Hold to

The Apostles’ Creed

The Apostles’ Creed is the foundational creed of Christian churches. It has received this title because of its great antiquity; most of its content dates back to the early 2nd century. The creed was apparently used as a summary of Christian doctrine for baptismal candidates in the churches of Rome. Though many churches and flavors of Christianity throughout the ages have different interpretations of the Bible, and embrace various doctrinal nuances, the essence of what the Scriptures teach is found in the words of the Apostles’ Creed.

The Nicene Creed

Similarly, the Nicene Creed was developed in the 4th Century as a foundational statement of belief for early Christian churches across the Greco-Roman world.

Membership

Membership can be a tricky word. For us, membership is not some sort of exclusive club. Instead, it is simply the process of moving from attending church activities to committing more deeply as an active part of our church family with a heart of servanthood.

If you would like to become a member of our Open Door family or would simply like to learn more,  sign-up below for one of the membership lunches (which typically happen in the fall). After participating in a membership lunch, you’ll have the opportunity to set-up an appointment with one of our pastors or elders for further conversation and clarity.

Start with Water Baptism

The first step of your new faith walk is to affirm your faith through water baptism. This outward declaration of your inward decision you’ve already made to follow Jesus is something we believe is incredibly important. If you have questions about baptism or would like to sign up to be baptized, please submit the form below, and our team will be in touch with you regarding next steps.
