Volunteer to
Serve at Open Door.

We rely on the whole church family to carry out the ministry God has given us. If you call Open Door your home church, we’d love for you to get involved and help us meet the needs of our community. Below are a few ways you can serve our church family. Is there something else you have a passion for or are skilled in that you think could benefit our church? Reach out and let us know! We may be able to get you plugged in using those gifts.

Our WEEKEND TEAM is the real MVP of Sunday gatherings. They are the first point of contact and help provide a warm, inviting environment for our guests on Sunday mornings and at other events. Training is provided for all positions. We ask that you commit to serving one Sunday per month but you can serve as often as you’d like!

GREETERS

Greeters welcome people with a smile and high fives. If you enjoy saying hello and being a friendly face, this opportunity is for you! People with a warm smile, outgoing personality and welcoming attitude preferred. Open to all ages.

Commitment: 9:45am-10:15am; one Sunday per month

USHERS

Ushers are the second point of contact for people coming to church and are stationed throughout the sanctuary. They help with a variety of things including welcoming attenders, helping people find seats, and answering questions. Ushers should have a warm, welcoming presence and be ready to assist at a moment’s notice. They will be trained in emergency and first aid procedures.

Commitment: 9:30am-11:30am; one Sunday per month

WELCOME KIOSK

The Welcome Kiosk is the hub of activity in the Gathering Place. They help people with a wide variety of things such as answering questions, greeting guests, managing paperwork and storing lost & found items. This is an active place, so if you like people and can think on your feet, this is the spot for you! Plus, you get to serve with the same team each month. They will be trained in emergency and first aid procedures.

Commitment: 9:30am-11:30am; one Sunday per month

COFFEE CART

Do you love people, coffee/tea, and serving? Then the Coffee Cart might be right up your alley! You’ll help with a variety of coffee related things like brewing, serving, set-up and clean-up. Plus you get to serve with the same team of people each month. #bonus

Our PRODUCTION & TECH TEAM gets in on all the behind-the-scenes pieces that bring to life our Sunday Gatherings and other events. Training provided for all positions.

CAMERA OPERATOR

If your heart rate runs low and you’re not easily startled or distracted, we have the position for you! Running the camera for our Sunday Gathering involves smoothly panning the camera from left to right while following a speaker or musician. It’s a pretty easy gig if you can stay focused on your subject!

Commitment: 9:25am-11:30am, one Sunday per month

COMPUTER OPERATOR

This position involves running the slides/videos for the Sunday Gathering. If you are comfortable with tech and running that tech for a live event (or willing to learn), this spot’s for you!

Commitment: 7:45am-11:30am, one Sunday per month

SWITCHER

The switcher is the device that changes what’s visible on our sanctuary screens and online platforms for our gatherings. This role is for you if you love tech, can run it for a live event and are comfortable navigating it on the fly!

PRODUCTION / TECH SUB

Our subs play an important role on the Production & Tech team. They are called to fill in when a need comes up, sometimes last minute. They also serve on months with five weekends – typically four times per year.

EVENT PHOTOGRAPHERS

Do you love the view from behind a camera and have a passion for capturing special moments? We are looking to grow our team of photographers. Whether that is photographing headshots, special holiday gatherings, baptisms, or even student events, come share your gift of creativity with us!

BAPTISM PHOTOGRAPHERS: Every couple months we need photographers to help us capture this milestone moment by taking photos of baptisms.

KIDS PHOTOGRAPHERS: A couple times a year we need photographers to pop downstairs on a Sunday morning to capture the beauty and life that is happening in the lives of our littlest church family. We also need photographers for various events throughout the years (VBS, family events, etc.)

STUDENTS PHOTOGRAPHERS: A few times a year we want to capture Wednesday nights and all that happens within our student ministry. It might be a party or a night of worship or out serving in the community.

HOLIDAY PHOTOGRAPHERS: We want to capture the Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday Gatherings.

VIDEOGRAPHERS

Our videographers capture experiences and tell stories through film! Filming interviews, or capturing the fun and excitement buzzing around church on a Sunday or youth group night is a taste of what they may do to give people a taste of what our church family is all about!

It takes an amazing team of volunteers to provide quality Kids programming each Sunday morning to our birth – 5th graders! Welcoming families, cuddling babies, consoling toddlers, playing with preschoolers, leading games, teaching Bible stories, building relationships… we need your unique gifts and strengths to make a big impact on the faith formation of the next generation within our elementary & early childhood classrooms. Interviews, personal references, background checks, and a volunteer training session are required for all volunteers.

Commitment: 9:30am-11:45am, one Sunday per month (or more if you wish!)

Partner with the Room Lead to facilitate tasks/activities. You will build relationships with students while adhering to room protocols/safety procedures.

1-ON-1 BUDDY

Is your sweet spot working one-on-one with another person? 1-on-1 Buddies are compassionate leaders willing to engage with a student needing one-on-one support. Patience and flexibility are key as you adapt to the needs of the individual student you are working with. Must be 15+ to volunteer in this role.

WELCOME KIOSK ASSISTANT

Be a welcoming presence to our families as you check-in kids and direct them to their classrooms.

Our goal is to create spaces where students in grades 6-12 can continue to be invited to become more fully alive in God! Whether it is Wednesday night large group gatherings, team times, or service nights or events, we seek to provide opportunities where students can encounter God’s presence. We need volunteers to journey with them as they become more fully alive in God! Interviews, personal references, background checks, and a volunteer training session are required for all volunteers.

TEAM LEADER

A Team Leader is a committed adult follower of Jesus who facilitates conversations within student teams during our gatherings on Wednesday nights. They also share in the lives of students outside of team time. They are a key place where our students experience God’s love and a safe place to engage in the struggle to become fully alive in God! We expect Team Leaders to be invested in their own spiritual growth as well as in the spiritual growth of their students. Training and ongoing support is provided.

STUDENTS SUPPORT TEAM

The support team provides helpful backup for our volunteer Team Leaders and our staff. Their role varies on Wednesday nights based on what is needed – it might be stepping into various ministry needs in their area of strength (i.e., prayer, teaching etc.), helping facilitate conversations within student teams alongside leaders, and helping facilitate events / activities. They also serve as a sounding board and prayer support for the staff as we lead students and volunteers together. Training and ongoing support is provided.

Commitment: 6:30-9pm; Wednesdays during the school year

PARENT TEAM

On Wednesday nights we need a rotating group of amazing parents who are present to help add a layer of safety, as well as step into any practical things needed from the staff.  Needs vary from week to week – one week you could be handing out popcorn and the next organizing supplies used for an activity. It’s a cool way to get a small glimpse of what your student gets to experience at youth group! Volunteer as much or as little as they want.

Commitment: 6:30-9pm; a few times a year based on your schedule
